Schneider Joins Bipartisan Group of Over 250 Current and Former Members of Congress Urging the Supreme Court to Block Trump’s Executive Order Limiting Voting by Mail

September 10, 2026 Press Release LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) joined a bipartisan group of over 250 current and former Members of Congress in urging the Supreme Court to block President Trump’s executive order that would require states to provide a citizenship verification list to the Department of Homeland Security and give the Postal Service control over who can vote by mail. Millions of Americans utilize mail-in voting including deployed service members, seniors, and disabled Americans. Trump himself voted by mail last month. “The right to vote is a critical pillar of our democracy,” said Schneider . “Every single American deserves the opportunity to cast their ballot how they wish – whether that is in-person or by mail. This executive order is a blatant attempt to sow doubt in the integrity of our elections and disenfranchise eligible voters. “Trump’s continued attacks on mail-in voting are un-American and anti-democratic. I’m glad to join a bipartisan group of over 250 current and former lawmakers to urge the Court to stand up for the right to vote and stand against any and all attacks that undermine this sacred right,” Schneider concluded . “We will continue fighting to protect free and fair elections for everyone.” View the full brief here .
