House Passes Government Funding: The Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, the House passed The Continuing Appropriations and Extension Act. This legislation funds the federal government at current discretionary spending levels through the remainder of the fiscal year to support President Trump’s work to reignite economic growth. “There was no alternative,” said Congressman Ellzey . “Not passing this legislation would undo all the progress made since President Trump took office in January. The Continuing Appropriations and Extension Act ensures full government funding through the fiscal year, including fully funding our national defense and military, with the largest pay raise for junior enlisted in forty years. It also maintains funding for all critical government functions, such as border defense, infrastructure projects, biomedical research, and more, without any cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, regardless of what you have been told.” The Continuing Appropriations and Extension Act helps support immigration enforcement, defense operations, and veterans’ health care. It increases defense spending by $6 billion and reduces non-defense spending by $13 billion, lowering total federal spending for fiscal year 25 below fiscal year 24 levels set under the previous administration. “With the support of the President, House Republicans cut spending by $13 billion and increased our defense spending while maintaining vital government programs the American people count on,” Ellzey continued . “I was proud to stand with my fellow Republicans and vote for this piece of legislation. And I will continue to find ways to reduce waste and save taxpayer dollars.”
