Senate Passes Bipartisan Bill Co-Sponsored by Sen. Ossoff to Crack Down on Child Trafficking & Exploitation
Washington, D.C.— The U.S. Senate has passed a bipartisan bill backed by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff to crack down on kidnapping, trafficking, and exploitation of children.
The Senate recently passed the bipartisanStrengthening Child Exploitation EnforcementAct, co-sponsored by Sen. Ossoff, to close loopholes that make kidnapping, sexual abuse, and child exploitation harder to prosecute.
The bill, led by Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), would make it easier for law enforcement to prevent child exploitation in the digital age and on a broader scale.
“We must protect every child in Georgia from trafficking, kidnapping, and sexual exploitation,”said Sen. Ossoff.“That is why I am working to pass this bipartisan legislation to make sure that law enforcement can prosecute criminals targeting children.”
Sen. Ossoff continues working to protect children from abuse and human trafficking.
Last month, Sen. Ossoffpassed through the Senatehis bipartisanPreventing Child Trafficking Act of 2025to strengthen coordination between the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to prevent child trafficking.
Earlier this year, Sens. Ossoff and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)introducedthe bipartisanSupporting Victims of Human Trafficking Act, which would cut red tape to better respond to the needs of service organizations working with victims of human trafficking and create additional flexibility in certain grant programs.
Last year, Sen. Ossoff’s bipartisanREPORT Actwith Sen. Blackburnbecame law, which — for the first time — required websites and social media platforms to report crimes involving Federal trafficking and enticement of children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
