PASSED: Rep. Pfluger's Bill to Recover Minerals from Waste Streams

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman August Pfluger's (TX-11) bipartisan legislation to recover critical minerals from contaminated sites and waste streams passed through the U.S. House of Representatives, marking his 13th bill to pass the House this term. In response to his legislation's passage, Congressman August Pfluger said, "Today, the House took a critical step toward ending our dependence on foreign adversaries for the minerals America counts on. This legislation turns contaminated sites into strategic assets while speeding up the restoration work our communities need. The "Environmental Monitoring and Remediation Technology Assessment Initiative (EMRTAI) Authorization Act" , co-led by Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01), would direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to broaden and authorize the EMRTAI program to identify, evaluate, and support the recovery of critical minerals from contaminated land and waste streams, strengthening domestic critical mineral supply chains while advancing cleanup efforts.
