In Visit to New Hampshire Job Corps, Shaheen Meets with Leaders and Current Granite State Students, Highlights Her Decades of Unwavering Support

**In 2013, Shaheen built on fifteen years of bipartisan work to open the Manchester Job Corps Center in collaboration with federal and local officials** (Manchester, NH) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) visited the New Hampshire Job Corps Center in Manchester to hear an update on the Center’s operations and meet with current students. During her visit, Shaheen toured the Center and its facilities for its academic and career technical training programs, including for the high school diploma, Hotel and Lodging, Reading and Advanced Manufacturing programs. Following the tour, Senator Shaheen heard testimonials from current students at the New Hampshire Job Corps Center about the impact the Center and its training programs have had on their academic, career and personal development. Shaheen also emphasized the importance of Job Corps to communities across New Hampshire and highlighted her decades-long support of the program, which has transformed the lives of Granite State students while boosting economic development. The Manchester Job Corps Center, which Shaheen helped establish in 2013, serves up to 268 residential and 32 nonresidential students, providing vocational training, pathways to a high school diploma and college certifications and degrees through partnerships with Manchester Community College, Nashua Community College and the New Hampshire Technical Institute. Photos from today’s event can be found HERE. “In New Hampshire and across the country, Job Corps Centers have been critical to meeting our workforce needs while expanding opportunities for Granite State students who otherwise would not have access to these foundational programs,” said Senator Shaheen. “Since its founding in 2013, the New Hampshire Job Corps Center has partnered with local schools and employers and made a real impact in the lives of students across the state, as I heard firsthand today. I’m proud of the work the Center is doing in our state.” As a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Shaheen has a longstanding legacy of standing up for the Job Corps program and championing funding for New Hampshire’s Job Corps Center. In 2013, Shaheen built on fifteen years of bipartisan work to break ground on the Manchester Job Corps Center in collaboration with federal and local officials. Job Corps students and graduates have gone on to work in high-need industries across New Hampshire, including advanced manufacturing and other businesses critical to the defense industrial base. Shaheen also secured language in the Fiscal Year 2026 government funding legislation directing the U.S. Department of Labor to issue guidance authorizing Job Corps center operators to utilize alternative background check and vetting services that meet statutory requirements. ###
