Husted in Cleveland at Kent State University, Cleveland Clinic

Jon Husted (R-Ohio) visited Kent State University’s Independence Campus and joined Cleveland Clinic leadership to celebrate the opening of two new state-of-the-art research buildings in the Cleveland Innovation District. “Cleveland is leading the way in preparing the next generation of health care professionals and advancing the medical breakthroughs that will improve lives here in Ohio and around the world. From Kent State training students for careers in health care to Cleveland Clinic investing in cutting-edge research and innovation, it was great to see firsthand the people and institutions helping make Cleveland a national leader in health care,” said Husted. Husted visited Kent State University’s Independence Campus to learn more about the university’s College of Podiatric Medicine, the only fully public podiatric medical school in the United States. Husted later joined Cleveland Clinic leadership to celebrate the opening of two new state-of-the-art research buildings, part of the largest research investment in the organization’s more than 100-year history. The buildings were supported by investments from the State of Ohio and JobsOhio as part of the Cleveland Innovation District, a unique public-private initiative that brings together the state, JobsOhio, Cleveland’s health care and higher education institutions to drive transformative research, education, job creation and commercialization opportunities in Ohio. Husted helped lead the effort to establish the Cleveland Innovation District while serving as Ohio’s lieutenant governor. “We are grateful to the State of Ohio, JobsOhio, our Cleveland Innovation District partners and the many teams who made the opening of these new advanced research facilities possible. These buildings will accelerate scientific discovery while strengthening Cleveland as a destination for healthcare, research and innovation.
