WATCH: Senator Kim Continues Caregiving Story with New Video

Hamilton, NJ –Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released a new video continuing his journey as a caregiver following his announcementlast year that his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Since the announcement, Senator Kim has continued elevating the caregiving crisis on the Senate floor, speaking about the struggles he and thousands of caregivers across the country experience each day. He has also met with Alzheimer’s advocates from New Jersey and across the country, taken part in caregiving conferences, spoken with the medical community to discuss what comes next for Alzheimer’s research and treatment, and highlighted the importance of caregivers in our country byinviting Cathy Rowe, Executive Director of New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well, to join him as his invited guest for 2026’s State of The Union Address given by President Trump last month.

“We have a caregiving crisis in our country – too many families today are left feeling like they are on their own to figure out how to take care of seniors in their life,”said Senator Kim.“The solution to that is to help create community to address that loneliness that comes with being a caregiver; programs like Interfaith Caregivers of Mercer County provide that sense of community, and I was inspired by seeing the work they do every day to help families like mine.”
The video comes after the Senator visited Interfaith Caregivers of Mercer County, an organization who works every day to improve the quality of life and help meet the concerns and special needs of homebound seniors and adults with disabilities, where he took part in check-ins with seniors in the area who participate in this program. A member of the sandwich generation, Senator Kim is the primary caregiver for his father who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, while simultaneously raising his two young sons.Senator Kim announced his mission to find solutions for the burdens caregivers fight through every day just to attain basic care for their loved ones, last year on the Senate floor.
