ICYMI: U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins Newsmax, NewsNation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today joined Wake Up America on Newsmax with Sharla McBride and Marc Lotter and Morning in America on NewsNation with Markie Martin. She discussed the need to win the global AI race while keeping Americans safe, the Republican Party’s agenda ahead of the midterm elections, and the need for the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 . On ensuring America wins the AI race while keeping Americans safe: “There is no doubt that we must win the AI race … But obviously we want to make sure that these (models) are safe. So, I think that you will see dialogue, conversation around that about whether that could be an industry-led thing or whether there needs to be safeguards put up by Congress. But regardless … we want to make sure that Americans are safe and that we continue to put us on the forefront, both when it comes to national security and innovation. We want those things to happen on our shores. We don’t want to push those to China. We know that China is our greatest adversary, and we know that they want to make sure that we are weaker at every turn. So, we’ll continue to have robust conversations about this, but we want to make sure that we’re pushing ahead and doing it in a safe way.” On Senate Republicans’ agenda ahead of the midterm elections: “Look, I’m hopeful that we can talk about the things that are affecting Americans every single day. I think you will hear us talk about permitting reform. We know that if we can create a space where we drive down energy costs, that affects everything from the grocery store to the gas pump. Look, that’s what people are talking to me about. When I went through the grocery line, as I do every single week, we can see what those prices are, and we want to make sure that we’re putting more money back in Americans’ pockets. So, we are going to be talking about that … We’ll be talking about the CLARITY Act, which is (about) the digital assets and the crypto space. I think you’ll hear some conversation about NIL, and you’ll hear some other conversations about data centers. I want to make sure that that Ratepayer Protection Pledge that President Trump so boldly put in front of the American people … I want to see that put into law …” On what’s at stake in November: “There’s more hard work ahead of us, but I think you will see this gap closing, and you’ll also see it closing, because we are going to position in front of the American people the very stark contrast they see between Republicans and Democrats, and that’s between common sense and actual liberal leftist lunatics that are … running the Democratic Party. They have taken over. You see that from the Senate races to the congressional races …[Y]ou have Congressional candidates that have said that they use the American flag to wipe their hands. You have them associating themselves with someone like Hasan Piker, who said that we deserved 9/11 … They’re sympathetic to Islamic jihadists … This isn’t just a difference between ‘how do we drive down debt?’ – I wish that that was the conversation. This is fundamentally changing who we are as a nation. When you see what the Democrats are putting forth in these elections, and I think we’ll make that stark contrast in front of the American people and ultimately win the day.” On the importance of the House passing Russia sanctions legislation: “Well, Lindsey said before he passed away—I talked to him about 48 hours before—and he said this would be the most consequential piece of legislation that he had ever had an opportunity to be behind. This was two, three years in the making, working to get this right, making sure that we could give President Trump the tools he needed to actually hold Putin accountable. Look, this is a now or never moment for the House of Representatives. We’ve heard Democrats say, ‘oh, we don’t want to give Trump these tools.’ Well, you’ve been saying for years you want to bring peace between Russia and Ukraine; you want to make sure that you keep Ukrainian people safe. We have Putin on his heels. This is kind of the last layer, if you will, if President Trump has these tools to hold Putin accountable to end his war machine, those that are actually funding it, everything from the shadow fleet to the energy sector, defense sector, to oligarchs. This is what he needs to bring him to the table and bring resolution to it. So, I hope that they will actually do the right thing and vote for the rule today, and then ultimately vote for final passage tomorrow. So, I think the world needs this. For years we’ve been talking about how do we bring resolution? I think this is the last piece of the puzzle. Senator Lindsey Graham said it’s time to stand up and do the right thing, and I hope that that’s what we’ll see them do today and tomorrow.” You can watch her Newsmax interview here and her News Nation interview here . ###
