WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a combat veteran of the Global War on Terrorism, issued the following statement to reflect on the 25 th anniversary of September 11, 2001: “Twenty-five years ago, America’s strength was tested. September 11th changed our nation forever, but it also showed the world the resilience, courage, and unity of the American people,” said Ernst. “A quarter-century later, we remember the innocent lives taken from us and honor the extraordinary Americans who came together in the face of unimaginable tragedy to help our nation heal and rebuild. We must never forget that freedom is never free—it is defended every day by the brave men and women who answer the call to serve. Today, we renew our promise to Never Forget and remain steadfast in protecting the freedoms that keep America a beacon of hope and liberty around the world.” Listen to Ernst reflect on the 25 th anniversary of September 11 here .
