Gillibrand Statement On Record High Diesel Prices

Today, in response to Donald Trump and Republicans driving diesel to record high prices and gas to over $4 on Labor Day for the first time ever, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following statement: “Because of Donald Trump, New York families, small businesses, and farmers will be paying record high prices this Labor Day weekend,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Every time New Yorkers go to the grocery store, take a trip, or buy something, they will be paying more because of Trump’s reckless war in Iran. Americans need relief, but all this administration is focused on is bombs, ballrooms, and billionaires. I won’t stop fighting to end the war in Iran and lower costs for hardworking New Yorkers across our state.” Gas has never been above $4 a gallon on Labor Day . According to AAA, the average price of gas is $4.15 a gallon across the country ( $4.30 in New York ), compared with $3.20 at this time last year. In addition, today’s August job report found that wage growth is now the lowest it has been in 5 years as inflation gobbles up Americans’ wages. ###
