Rep. Nancy Mace Introduces Bill To Expand Access To Cutting-Edge Peptide Therapies For Veterans

September 1, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 1, 2026) – Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace introduced the Providing Evidence-based Peptide Therapies to Improve Delivery and Expanded Services for Veterans Act, or the PEPTIDES for Veterans Act, legislation directing the Department of Veterans Affairs to study the safety, efficacy, and potential therapeutic benefits of peptide-based therapies for veterans receiving care through the VA. “Our veterans sacrificed everything to protect our country. The least we can do is make sure they have access to groundbreaking treatments,” said Congresswoman Mace. “The VA shouldn’t bury promising advancements in bureaucracy simply because they’re new. Study it. Test it. Follow the evidence. If it works, veterans deserve access. Washington’s red tape should never stand between a veteran and their chance to heal.” The bill requires the VA Secretary to first conduct a comprehensive review of existing regulations and guidance surrounding peptides and submit a report to Congress within 180 days of enactment. Following the review, the VA would carry out an 18-month study examining peptide-based therapies as potential treatments for recovery, rehabilitation, chronic pain, mental health, physical wellness, and other service-connected conditions. If the study determines peptide-based therapies are safe and beneficial, the legislation directs the VA to launch a pilot program for veterans who voluntarily elect to participate, to evaluate real-world outcomes and assess potential for large-scale implementation across VA medical facilities. "The VA bureaucracy has stood between veterans and the care they earned for too long. If peptide therapies can help veterans manage pain, recover faster, or improve their mental and physical health, they deserve the treatment."
