Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, Sunset Scoops
Throughout this Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Sunset Scoops of Shelby County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“Sunset Scoops is asweetspotfor folks, offering banana splits, sundaes, root beer floats, and their best-selling ice cream nachos,”said Chair Ernst. “Open past sunset, this family-run small business is adding flavor to downtown Harlanscoop by scoop, giving families and community members a place to enjoy a sweet treat together.”
Founded in April 2025 by Tina and Jeremy Schechinger, Sunset Scoops was created to fulfill Tina’s lifelong dream of owning an ice cream shop. A physician by day and proud “scooperista” by night, Tina envisioned a welcoming place where her children and neighbors could gather after work or a movie. The business also hosts birthday parties and even offers curbside pickup for a cozy night in.
Stay tuned as Chair Ernst continues to recognize outstanding Iowa small businesses with her Small Business of the Week award.
