Cassidy Delivers Floor Speech Honoring Fallen U.S. Deputy Marshal Michael Andrew Hanson
(Click here to watch.) WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) delivered a speech on the U.S. Senate floor honoring Michael Andrew Hanson, a fallen U.S. Deputy Marshal from the Western District of Louisiana. Cassidy honored Deputy Hanson for his service to the state of Louisiana and asked for a moment of silence for Hanson’s family, friends, and community. “Hanson displayed the greatest love: love for his country, love for justice, and love for others,” said Dr. Cassidy. Cassidy’s remarks as prepared for delivery are below: Mr. President, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson was a member of the Western District of Louisiana’s Fugitive Task Force. He was a husband. He was a father. He was shot and killed while arresting a man on sexual battery charges. Mr. President, Deputy Hanson displayed the greatest love: love for his country, love for justice, and love for others. The man who murdered him took his life, yes. But no criminal, no weapon can take a man’s honor, courage, or legacy. Now, a moment of silence for Drew’s family, friends, and community. [pause] ###
