Husted visits Lima Tank Plant

Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today visited the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC) in Lima to see its operations, meet with its workforce and discuss the facility’s critical role in America’s defense industrial base. Husted also met with workers to discuss the facility’s funding needs and the importance of maintaining a strong defense manufacturing workforce in Ohio. “The Lima Tank Plant is the only tank manufacturing facility in North America, and I saw firsthand how Ohioans are building the equipment critical to our nation’s defense. Ohioans can count on me to make sure the state has resources to produce the tanks and vehicles our armed forces rely on,” said Husted. JSMC, colloquially known as the “Lima Tank Plant,” is a government-owned, contractor-operated facility and the only industrial facility in North America that produces tanks. Husted has supported Ohio’s defense manufacturing industry through legislation, including the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act , which strengthens America’s military and supports Ohio’s critical role in the nation’s defense industrial base. Husted also supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act in July 2025, which includes pro-growth policies that support investment in manufacturing states like Ohio, including: Full and immediate expensing for investments in machinery, equipment, technology and software through bonus depreciation. Doubles small business expensing limits for new investments in machinery, equipment, technology and software. Permanent and immediate expensing for research and development costs. Full expensing for investments in new factories. Permanently expands the interest write-off available to businesses and manufacturers. Cuts taxes on tips and overtime, saving tipped and overtime workers up to $1,750 per year.
