Rep. Panetta’s Statement on His 2026 Reelection

November 4, 2026 Press Release Monterey, CA – United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) released the following statement on the results of his 2026 reelection: “I am deeply honored and humbled that the people of California’s 19th Congressional District again elected me to represent them in the United States Congress.  My work in Congress has always been guided by the principle that good governing is good politics.  Tonight’s overwhelming results reaffirm that belief, bolster my work, and strengthen my commitment to delivering for the people that I proudly serve. “Over the past two years, the division and dysfunction in Washington could lead many across the nation to be disillusioned and disengage from the responsibilities of living in our democracy.  However, tonight’s results demonstrate that Americans don’t cower during dark times.  Instead, we face our challenges, stand together, and embrace our obligations through the democratic process of voting.  By giving us robust Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, the American voters also gave us a mandate to govern in the 120th Congress. “With our agency, we must now set the agenda and provide answers for Americans when it comes to the issues of affordability and accountability.  Living up to our Constitutional responsibilities and our system of checks and balances, we will legislate to bring down the cost of living, and, at the same time, we will investigate any and all misdeeds by this Administration.  I look forward to upholding my Constitutional oath through my service in the 120th Congress, my willingness to work with anybody who helps me govern, and my will to fight anybody who threatens our democratic values.” ###
