USDA Announces $1 Billion to Wildfire and Flood-Impacted Producers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced approximately $1 billion in disaster recovery assistance for eligible livestock producers through the Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP) for wildfire and flood disasters in 2023 and 2024.
This is the second tranche of fundingincludedin the continuing resolution Cramer voted to pass in December, for a total of $2 billion.
“Thank you to President Trump and Secretary Rollins for delivering this second batch of funding to our producers,”said U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND).“Initiatives like the Emergency Livestock Relief Program offer critical assistance to our producers impacted by disasters.”
Producers in counties with qualifying disasters are not required to submit supporting documentation. Eligible counties in North DakotaincludeBowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, McIntosh, McKenzie, McLean, Oliver, Sioux, and Williams. For losses in counties not listed as eligible, producers can apply, but must provide supporting documentation to demonstrate that a qualifying flood or wildfire occurred in the county where the livestock were physically located or would have been physically located if not for the disaster event. Producers can sign up from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31.
