Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) joined
National Report
on Newsmax to discuss the Biden-era FBI targeting Republican senators, Democrats prioritizing political theater over reopening the federal government, and the peace deal between Israel and Hamas announced by the Trump administration.
On Biden-era FBI Targeting Republican Senators:
“Well, it really was unbelievable, and my thanks to Senator Grassley for sticking with this and bringing it forward. I mean, you talk about federalization and weaponization of our law enforcement – that weaponization took place in the last administration.
“A lot of conservatives complained about it, but nothing ever happened. And Senator Grassley now is digging into this. It's a violation of our liberty, it's a violation of our privacy, and I'm looking forward to continuing to find out what happened and really to hold those who were responsible for this accountable.”
On Democrats Prioritizing Political Theater Over Reopening Government:
“This is the Schumer shutdown. I was looking through my press clips earlier this morning, and I saw one where
Senator Schumer said, ‘Every day gets better for us.’
“If that's how the Democrats think that, that it gets better, that our military is not paid, that it gets better when we're looking at people who are worried about being furloughed, who are worried about getting their paychecks, that just shows their arrogance. That just shows that they view this as politics and nothing but political theater.
“What we want to do is open the government … we [Republicans] have a clean CR and we're just saying … open the government and then we can take up those appropriations bills, which have already been negotiated in the Appropriations Committee. Leader Thune has eight of them on the floor. We've passed three of those and that's transparency. That's accountability that the American people deserve in how we prioritize programs here in Washington and how we are spending taxpayer money.
“But the Democrats, like I said, I was appalled that he would make a statement like that, that every day gets better for us as Democrats … They think it's a good day. Hey, get a clue. This is not a good day. Open up the government.”
On Middle East Peace Deal with Israel and Hamas:
“Well, it's wonderful news and deep thanks to President Trump for being focused on this and making a commitment to see it through. Senator Fetterman has been very strong in his support for Israel during these horrible times when they are fighting Hamas, the terrorist group. When they are trying to get their people back that are still alive. I think he does speak for many of us, and I commend him on his comments. It is good news ... And we hope that Hamas follows through, and that we do see peace in the region.”
