Blumenthal Statement on the Inauguration of Donald Trump

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement ahead of attending the Inauguration of Donald Trump, who will be sworn in today as the 47thPresident of the United States:
“The peaceful transition of power is foundational to our democracy. This bedrock principle has guided our country through more than two centuries of both conflict and progress, upheaval and growth. I am more committed than ever to our core Constitutional values and to fighting for a world that lives up to them for all Americans. I’ll work with the new Administration whenever and wherever we have common ground – and I believe we must work hard to bring our country together – but if a fight for vital values is necessary, I won’t back down,”Blumenthal said.
