BUCKSPORT, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with local officials in Bucksport to discuss the bright future of the town’s public dock and waterfront. She then visited the Bucksport public safety building to speak with local first responders and learn more about the town’s emergency service needs. Through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins secured $4.1 million in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) to help transform Bucksport's seasonal public dock into a year-round community asset. Since 2021, Senator Collins has also secured more than $46 million in CDS to support local law enforcement projects across Maine, including $2.3 million to purchase equipment for emergency service agencies throughout Hancock County, including in Bucksport. “It was a pleasure to meet with local officials in Bucksport to talk about the significant improvements being made to the town's waterfront and hear directly from first responders about the community's public safety needs,” said Senator Collins. “Investments in infrastructure and public safety are essential to supporting strong, vibrant communities throughout Maine. I am proud to have secured federal funding to support these efforts, which will help strengthen Bucksport's waterfront and provide local first responders with the equipment they need to keep residents safe.” ###
