In Syracuse: Gillibrand Celebrates Pride And New Americans Day At The Great New York State Fair

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand visited the Great New York State Fair, where she gaggled with reporters and joined fairgoers to celebrate the two official themes of the day: Pride and New Americans Day. While visiting the various pavilions and booths, Gillibrand also addressed the rising anxiety across New York State regarding increasing gas and grocery prices as part of her statewide “costs” tour. “The Great New York State Fair highlights the very best of our state, from our booming agricultural economy to our vibrant communities,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I am grateful to have experienced all the fair has to offer while celebrating Pride Day and New Americans Day. I also recognize that it is more expensive for New Yorkers to make it to the fair this year thanks to astronomical gas prices, compounded by the fact that New Yorkers are paying more for just about everything. Today was about joy and community, and I was thrilled to join New Yorkers from across the state today to champion equality and welcome our newest neighbors.” During the senator’s visit, she highlighted New York’s deep commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and immigrant communities across the state. She visited the “I Love NY” Pride installation; spoke with representatives promoting LGBTQ+ equity, healthcare access, and community support services statewide; was recognized by the Green Standard Alliance for her leadership in advancing justice and equity in cannabis reform, enjoyed New York Maple Ice Cream, and wrapped up her visit at the newly renamed Haudenosaunee Village to meet with community leaders and vendors. ###
