Rep. Garbarino Celebrates Columbus Day, Recognizes Contributions of Italian Americans to Long Island

Garbarino (NY-02), Vice Chair of the Italian American Congressional Delegation, is recognizing the generations of Italian Americans who have helped shape Long Island and communities across the country. Garbarino is also highlighting his resolution, H.Res. 789, which expresses support for the recognition of Christopher Columbus and his impact on the Italian-American community and recognizes the second Monday in October as Columbus Day. “Growing up on Long Island in an Italian-American family, Columbus Day has always been an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and honor the generations who came before us,” said Rep. Garbarino. “Italian Americans have played an enormous role in shaping Long Island into the place we are proud to call home, which can be seen in our small businesses, neighborhoods, and communities across the Island.
