MEDFORD, MA – Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) celebrated over $3 million in federal investments that she secured for school and climate resilience projects across MA-5. In Melrose, Whip Clark she joined Mayor Jen Grigoraitis to celebrate $250,000 in funding she brought home to rebuild, rewire, and improve the public address systems in Melrose Public Schools, as well as an $852,500 investment she secured to strengthen the city’s floodwater management infrastructure. Whip Clark later joined Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn in Medford for the grand reopening of Carr Park. Thanks to a $2.1 million federal investment secured by Whip Clark, the renovated park features a covered basketball court and a solar panel array that will power charging stations as well as the nearby fire station. “Right now, chaos rules in Washington. But here in Massachusetts, our leaders are standing together to build a future more worthy of our children,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “I’m grateful for the leadership of so many friends and colleagues across MA-5. Thanks to their collaboration, we’re continuing to strengthen our communities and make life better for families throughout the Commonwealth.” “Whip Clark always delivers for Melrose, and we’re thankful for this funding for local climate change mitigation, economic development, and school safety priorities,” said Mayor Jen Grigoraitis. “The Memorial Hall parking lot redesign will mitigate stormwater flooding and ensure continued access to our local small businesses, medical care, and downtown grocery store, especially for our low-income, elderly, and limited-mobility residents. The Melrose Public Schools public address system upgrades in our school buildings will safeguard reliable communications that keep our students, staff, and first responders safe.” “The transformation of Carr Park is truly a sight to behold and now that the process is complete, our community has access to incredible new features here for years to come,” said Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. “Thank you to Congresswoman Clark for supporting this monumental project and delivering over $2 million in funding that made many of these upgrades possible.” To view photos of the events, click HERE .
