U.S. Senator Katie Britt Advances Critical Funding for Alabama’s Military Bases
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, joined her colleagues in advancing the 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilCon-VA) Appropriations Act , which included nearly $119.4 million for Alabama’s military installations. The bill is expected to be considered by the full Senate this week before heading to the U.S. House of Representatives. In the bill, Senator Britt directly secured nearly $32.4 million for improvements and investments in Alabama’s military bases. “The future of our national defense infrastructure and warfighter will be stronger because of these investments in Alabama’s world-class capabilities. Now more than ever we need to protect our homeland from 21 st -century threats. I know Alabama will be indispensable to ensuring America’s military readiness and unmatched lethality across the globe. Fort Rucker ($28.4 million): Flight Control Tower at Tabernacle Stagefield – $8.1 million Fire and Rescue Station at Tabernacle Stagefield – $6.6 million Medical Evacuation Support Facility – $7.4 million Flight Control Tower at Cairns Army Airfield – $2.7 million Lowe Army Aircraft Maintenance Hangar – $3.6 million Maxwell Air Force Base ($4 million): Combined All-Domain Wargaming Center – $4 million Redstone Arsenal ($55 million): Propulsion Systems Building – $55 million Anniston Army Depot ($32 million): General Purpose Warehouse – $32 million In total, the 2026 MilCon-VA Appropriations Act would provide $19.8 billion for the Department of Defense military construction program to fund more than 280 projects at military bases around the world, and $133.3 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), including funding for VA medical care. ###
