Booker Statement on Vote to Keep Government Open, Protect New Jerseyans Health Care

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement after voting to advance a short-term CR that would protect New Jerseyans health care:
“Today, Democrats put forward a short-term government funding bill that would begin to address the damage Trump's failed policies have inflicted on hardworking Americans, who have become poorer and sicker under this administration's failed leadership.
“I voted to preserve Americans’ access to high-quality, affordable health care, keep our government open, lower costs, and stand up for the people of New Jersey.
“By voting against this bill, Senate Republicans have once again failed to address Americans’ most urgent concerns - from access to health care to higher prices on everything from groceries to back-to-school supplies. Americans are fed up with their tax dollars being used to give more handouts to the biggest corporations and the wealthiest few, but Republicans once again chose partisanship over American families and have driven us one step closer to a government shutdown in the process.
“Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House. If they want to earn my vote, they cannot continue to put forward proposals that continue to raise our costs, jeopardize our health care, and hurt the people of my state.”
