Rosen Celebrates Supreme Court Decision to Strike Down Trump’s Cost-Raising Tariffs

WASHINGTON, DC –Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released a statement following the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision declaring many of Donald Trump’s broad cost-raising tariffs illegal. Areport from the Joint Economic Committeelast year found that Trump’s tariffs, which he unlawfully implemented without Congressional approval, cost the average American family nearly $1,200 extra in 2025.
“As Nevadans were already being squeezed by high prices, Donald Trump intentionally and illegally bypassed Congress to implement tariffs that raised costs even more on hardworking families,”said Senator Rosen.“Today’s ruling is good news for Nevada families and small businesses in desperate need of financial relief – and it should also be a wakeup call for Trump that the rule of law still applies to him. I was proud to be a part of the congressional effort urging the Supreme Court to repeal these unlawful, cost-raising tariffs, and I’ll keep fighting to do everything in my power to lower costs.”
Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight to overturn Trump’s reckless tariffs. Last year, sheintroduced a billto eliminate tariffs on groceries and help lower food prices, but Senate Republicans blocked her efforts to pass the bill by unanimous consent. Senator Rosen has voted several times in the Senate to overturn Trump’s tariffs, including onBrazilandCanada. She has also joined colleagues in a series ofamicus briefscalling on federal courts to strike down Trump’s illegal tariffs.
