The funding comes from the Department of Justice’s Byrne JAG Grant Program and will be distributed to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the City of Henderson, and the Nevada Department of Public Safety. “Our law enforcement officers work around the clock to keep Nevadans safe, and I’m committed to supporting them in any way I can,” said Senator Jacky Rosen. “I am proud to have helped secure this funding for law enforcement agencies across our state to ensure that they have the equipment and training they need to keep us safe.” “Local law enforcement is the backbone of public safety in Nevada, but too often our officers are being asked to do more with less,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “From improving training to modernizing equipment, this critical funding will support police officers from Reno to Henderson. I’ll never stop working to deliver for local law enforcement and ensure all Nevadans feel safe in their communities.” Three grants constitute the $2,422,000 in funding: $1,031,000 for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (LVMPD) Air Support Equipment Enhancement Project. This funding will be used to modernize essential air support equipment to improve the Department’s airborne law enforcement, search and rescue, and emergency response operations. This grant is on top of $1 million in federal funding the Senators secured for LVMPD’s Air Support Unit earlier this year. $1,031,000 for the City of Henderson to support law enforcement responses to and prosecutions of nonfatal strangulation cases, increase the local forensic examination capacity, and improve protective and medical services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. $360,000 for the Nevada Department of Public Safety for new law enforcement training technology for departments throughout the state. Senator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada’s law enforcement. She has secured millions of federal dollars for Nevada law enforcement, including $1 million earlier this year for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to acquire equipment to support their flight operations. Senator Rosen also joined Senator Cortez Masto in introducing legislation to redirect excessive ICE funding toward local law enforcement. At the beginning of this year, a Rosen-backed bipartisan bill to ensure access to federal benefits for the families of first responders who pass away or become permanently disabled from service-related cancers was signed into law. ### Facebook-f Instagram Youtube Flickr Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos
