Murphy Applauds Passage of FY27 Agriculture, Rural Development & FDA Appropriations

June 5, 2026 Press Release Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., applauds the passage of H.R. 8646, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agency Appropriations Act, 2027. "Eastern North Carolina is home to many rural communities and farms that are the backbone of our state's continued prosperity," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "It is my privilege to be a strong advocate in Washington for our way of life, and fight for commonsense policies and federal funding to help our communities thrive. I am proud to have passed a robust appropriations package that protects America's food and drug supply, prioritizes the nation's health, improves our national security, and saves taxpayer dollars. Additionally, I am grateful to have secured over $3.5 million in Community Project Funding for our communities." NC-03 Community Project Funding Wins $800,000 for Kenansville, Duplin County, Public Safety Building $1,000,000 for Warsaw, Duplin County, James Kenan High School Renovations $2,000,000 for Kinston, Lenoir County, Joint Bus Maintenance and Workforce Training Facility $800,000 for Kinston, Lenoir County, EMS Station Construction Background Invests in agriculture research and rural development programs, bolsters nutrition programs for low-income families, and reins in harmful Biden-era regulations that dictate how livestock is raised. Supports the Trump Administration’s Make America Healthy Initiative by providing $7.1 billion to the Food and Drug Administration to keep food, drugs, and devices safe. Bolsters our national security by addressing foreign land ownership and gives the Department of Agriculture the tools it needs to maintain and grow our competitive edge in agriculture research, and ensures funding does not fall into the hands of our adversaries. Saves taxpayer dollars by cutting wasteful Biden-era climate funds and reducing expenses related to staffing reductions and shrinking grant programs that housed canceled grants.
