Icymi: Cassidy Applauds Louisiana Opting in to Trump-backed School Choice Program
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released a statement applauding Louisiana for opting in to the upcoming federal school choice scholarship tax credit. Cassidysecuredthis provision in Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cut bill that passed earlier this year. In October, Cassidysentletters to governors across the country urging them to opt-in to the program.
“I worked with President Trump to add my school choice bill to the Working Families Tax Cuts, and now Louisiana families will benefit,”said Dr. Cassidy.“We’re helping parents choose the best school for their children. Thank you, Governor Landry for adding Louisiana to the list.”As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Cassidyheld a hearing earlierthis year on how to reform K-12 education to put students and families first. He also led aresolutionrecognizing January 26 – February 1 as National School Choice Week.
