RELEASE: Senator Hassan and Intervale Small Business Owners Discuss the Impact of Rising Costs Due to President Trump
INTERVALE – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan and Intervale small business owners this week discussed the ways in which President Trump’s tariffs and illegal war with Iran are challenging small businesses across New Hampshire. Senator Hassan met with Ragged Mountain Outdoor Equipment owners Jack Smith and Cort Hansen and toured the business, which sells outdoor gear and operates an in-house sewing shop where employees manufacture many of its products. They discussed the ways in which higher costs at every level of the supply chain are making it more expensive for small businesses to purchase the materials and inventory that they need. “Small businesses like Ragged Mountain Outdoor Equipment are the backbone of New Hampshire’s economy, but President Trump’s reckless tariffs and illegal war with Iran are hurting small businesses and raising prices for Granite Staters,” said Senator Hassan. “I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from the owners of Ragged Mountain Outdoor Equipment about how increased costs throughout their supply chain are making it harder for them to get the inventory and materials that they need for their own manufacturing line. The Trump Administration needs to reverse course and work with Congress on a bipartisan basis to fulfill President Trump’s campaign promise of lowering costs for families and small businesses.” Senator Hassan Meets with the Owners of Ragged Mountain Outdoor Equipment in Intervale A recent report from the Joint Economic Committee – Minority showed that New Hampshire families have had to pay an additional $4,400 for goods and services due to inflation in Trump's second term. ###
