Bennet Statement on Trump Administration’s Rejection of Colorado’s Clean Air Plan
Jan 15, 2026|Press Releases
Washington, D.C.— Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the Trump Administration’s full disapproval of Colorado’s Regional Haze State Implementation Plan:
“With his surprise disapproval of our state’s Regional Haze Plan, President Trump continues to try to take decision-making out of Coloradans’ hands. This is not cooperative federalism; it’s a federal attack on the State of Colorado. Adding insult to injury, this Administration finalized this action without following requirements for public comment, demonstrating the extent to which this President does not care about what the American people want. This decision to outright reject Colorado’s Regional Haze Plan was clearly made for purely political reasons and underscores the fact that Colorado is on its own when it comes to doing what’s necessary to protect our public lands, our health, and our energy communities.
“Colorado continues to be the target of President Trump’s political temper tantrum, and I will pursue every possible legislative tool to put a stop to this outrageous abuse.”
