The bill would remove legal barriers to allow voluntary, league-style Unified Boxing Organizations (UBOs) to compete alongside traditional promoters. It would also strengthen fighter protections and safety standards, while creating new opportunities for organizations to compete, giving boxers more choices and fans better matchups. The bill was recently endorsed by professional boxer, Nico Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali’s grandson and a vocal advocate for the interests of fellow boxers. “For generations, Las Vegas has been the capital of the boxing world, and the success of this sport has brought tourists to our state and helped grow our economy. Senator Cruz and I have been working for months to get this much needed bill across the finish line to help revitalize the sport we all love and keep boxers safe, particularly by working closely with Nico Ali Walsh,” said Senator Rosen. “I am glad that our bipartisan bill has advanced in committee today, and we will continue to push until it becomes law.” “Today, after months of collaboration with stakeholders, including professional boxer Nico Ali Walsh, the Senate Commerce Committee took a major step forward in bringing boxing into the 21st century and strengthening protections for fighters. The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act reflects a bipartisan effort to create more opportunities for fighters and bring back marquee matchups to the sport,” said Senator Cruz. “I look forward to building on today’s bipartisan progress and working with both chambers to get this legislation across the finish line and deliver meaningful reforms for boxers and fans.” Senator Rosen has been a vocal advocate for all sports in Nevada, and has helped promote Las Vegas as the “sports capital of the world.” She led the hearing on the current state and significance of boxing in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In June, Senator Rosen’s bipartisan American Decade of Sports Act , which would boost American sports diplomacy and leverage large sporting events hosted in the U.S. to boost tourism, advanced out of committee. Recently, Senator Rosen and UNLV hosted a discussion on Sports Tourism with representatives from the UFC, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Las Vegas Athletics, and organizers of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. ### Facebook-f Instagram Youtube Flickr Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos
