Congresswoman Escobar Votes Against Republican Funding Plan
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement after she voted against the Republican funding plan: “I voted against the Republican funding bill because not only does it slash programs important to seniors, families and veterans (it in fact guts our ability to adequately fund the PACT Act), but it effectively cedes Congressional authority and gives Elon Musk and Donald Trump unchecked power to continue wrecking the federal government. “There’s a viable alternative – I invite Republicans to join us and vote for a 30-day continuing resolution which ensures we do not have a government shutdown, and it gives appropriators the time we need to finish our work. “I won’t be complicit with today's Republican efforts to make Americans sicker, poorer, and worse-off in order to give massive tax breaks to billionaires.” # # #
