Rep. Ami Bera Releases Statement Opposing House GOP’s Partisan Funding Bill

Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) issued the following statement after voting against the House Republican government funding bill:
“With just days left to prevent a government shutdown, House Republicans have put forward a partisan funding bill that threatens housing assistance for thousands of families, underfunds disaster relief, cuts funding for education and law enforcement, and creates uncertainty for Social Security and veterans’ healthcare—all while failing to provide oversight of Elon Musk’s unchecked authority over critical agencies that keep our communities safe and healthy.
“Democrats stand ready to work across the aisle and negotiate in good faith on a responsible funding deal. It’s time for Speaker Johnson to return to the negotiating table and work with us on a bipartisan solution that prioritizes the needs of the American people and keeps the government open.”
