Decatur County Sets the Standard for Service!

June 16, 2026 Blog Post Hello, it’s Congressman Matt Van Epps. I represent Tennessee’s Seventh Congressional District! Since coming to Congress, I have had the privilege of spending some great time in Decatur County! It was a privilege to recognize the brave first responders, local leadership, and residents of Decatur County for their extraordinary efforts during Winter Storm Fern with a Congressional Record commemorating their strong community. After the storm, I made visits to meet with local elected officials, tour the Decatur County Community Hospital, and present a Congressional Record at the Decatur County First Responders Celebration and Fish Fry. Find out more about this visit here and read the Congressional record praising this community’s efforts during Winter Storm Fern here . Decatur County is home to some of the most truly humble and hard-working people in the country. This spirit reveals itself every time there is a rough storm or a need arises in our district. I am proud of the character, resilience, and beauty of Decatur County and the people who continue to make it so special. “Decatur County is pleased to express our sincere appreciation to Congressman Matt Van Epps for his very productive visit and tour of our community recently. Congressman Van Epps spent the entire day and part of the evening with us, addressing the quarterly Joint Economic & Community Development Board and ending the day honoring all of the EMA, first responders, rescue squads, and utility linemen and many others with a catfish dinner at the Fairgrounds. During the time between the lunch and dinner meetings, Congressman Van Epps made visits to the Ayers Foundation Trust Headquarters and Wally-Mo Inc., manufacturer of car haulers. He also took time to visit the closed Decatur County Hospital and learned of the progress being made to reopen that facility. We are honored that Congressman Van Epps made the commitment to spend the day in Parsons/Decatur County and witness the dedication of our industrial workforce and community leadership. His commitment to understanding the unique needs of rural Tennessee is vital for the growth and well-being of our community,” -Decatur County Mayor Mike Creasy. Decatur County has that easygoing, down-to-earth feel where people still know their neighbors and take time to look out for one another. Life along the Tennessee River adds a lot of natural beauty, and it’s the kind of place where you can spend a quiet afternoon fishing or just enjoying the water. I am so proud to represent this amazing county! Please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns at 202-225-2811.
