Sen. Ossoff Continues Working Across the Aisle to Support Victims of Human Trafficking
Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across the aisle to support youth victims of human trafficking.
Sen. Ossoff recently cosponsored the bipartisanRunaway and Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Actto better support victims of human trafficking. The bipartisan bill would provide more funding to the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) grant program that supports local centers that support runaway and homeless youth and their families.
The legislation, led by Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Dick Durbin (D-IL), would also expand the grant program to provide additional services, including safe shelter, counseling, and trauma-informed services for victims of trafficking.
“Human trafficking in Georgia and nationwide is a crisis, especially among children. This bipartisan bill would help young people going through these traumas rebuild their lives. I will continue working to help victims get the support and resources they need,”Sen Ossoff said.
Sen. Ossoff continues working to protect youth from abuse and human trafficking.
Last week, following reports that the Trump Administration is aggressivelyrolling backFederal anti-child trafficking programs, Sen. Ossoffdemanded answers about reported cutsto key initiatives to combat child exploitation and deprioritized trafficking prevention programs.
