Freedom in America means our government can’t just enter our homes without proper legal authority. We were so sure of that we wrote it into our Constitution. President Trump and Secretary Noem don’t get to just throw those rights out the window on a whim.

In New Mexico, we trust women to make their own health care decisions.

My job is to fight for the people of Michigan. We haven't stopped doing that, and I'm not going to let this distract me. But I will say, if they can do this to a U.S. senator, what do you think they can do to just an average independent citizen? www.npr.org/2026/01/15/n...

When ICE targets people—including off-duty officers as reported by Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley—for no reason other than how they look, it destroys trust, divides communities, and fails to make us safer.

"Hit unexpectedly" is a funny way of describing deliberately taking money out of Americans' pockets to boost the profits of your corporate donors. Trumpflation at work.

Children! Absolutely disgraceful. This is what happens when Donald Trump’s government pays bounties for people. Doesn’t matter if they’re legal. Doesn’t matter who they are. Doesn’t matter if they’re five-years-old. How can anyone justify this any more?

I introduced a Constitutional amendment to overturn this decision and put political power where it belongs: with the American people.

16 years ago today, the Supreme Court erased the limit on how much the wealthy and big corporations could pump into elections. Since Citizens United, we've seen billions of dollars of dark money drowning out the voice of American voters.

Remember: Donald Trump and Education Secretary McMahon have spent months raising costs for families with student loans. This is necessary relief, but make no mistake: they've got a lot more to do if they're serious about tackling the affordability crisis flattening families.

I joined agriculture leaders from across the state today in Mankato for the Minnesota Ag Expo. Minnesota farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we must ensure they have what they need to thrive—strong markets and stable trade policies.

High-speed internet isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. By strengthening USDA support for targeted broadband projects, my bipartisan bill helps lower costs and bring reliable, high-speed internet to rural Michigan and communities across the country.

Federal assistance is needed to help Washington communities recover from December’s devastating floods. The Administration was quick to respond to our emergency request. I hope they will continue to be supportive as our families and small businesses work to build back.

Toured Byers High School’s Career and Technical Education program, which helps equip our next generation with the skills they need to succeed. Expanding workforce programs like these are a no-brainer. Let’s get to work!

Today, I toured the Portsmouth Marine Terminal and was updated on the progress made on the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project. This incredible project will bolster offshore wind in VA, lower costs, and grow the local economy.

I visited the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center today to hear about how they'll use funding I secured to continue supporting survivors. Trump tried to slash funding to prevent violence against women—but I fought tooth and nail & we secured RECORD funding instead.

Secretary Kennedy is a threat to public health, and his actions are hurting New Hampshire children and families. I’m grateful to the doctors and families I met today in Concord who are speaking out about the dangers of Kennedy’s attacks on science and vaccines.

Minerals are in everything. That’s why we need to make sure we have access to them. My bipartisan bill, the PRIMED Act, does just that. youtube.com/shorts/uuY8B...

Terrorizing our kids is not going to make our communities safer. ICE needs to end this surge in Minnesota – and I refuse to vote to send more funding to DHS and ICE when they continue to trample on the rights of Minnesotans and make our communities less safe.

ICE finally let her go after several days.We can’t let America become a country that lets agents arbitrarily take people into custody for days with no recourse, no contact with family. That’s not who we are. Those aren’t our values.

Her family came to the United States legally and has every right to be here. But because of the color of her skin, she was snatched off the street. For days, her family had no information on where she was being held and no way to reach her.

A Minnesota high school student was nabbed by ICE agents as she was trying to pick up food for her family after work. She was violently dragged from her car and lost her shoes. So, barefoot in the middle of winter, she was put into the back of an unmarked car in a small town (Willmar).

16 years ago today, SCOTUS sided with big corporations over the American people in their infamous Citizens United ruling. That decision paved the way for unchecked & secret money in our politics & helped billionaires & special interests buy more elections. We must reverse it.

ICE should learn a little history.

I know something about all this because my father was ambassador to Laos at the time, after years of service in the Vietnam conflict. I lived in Laos for a year before college.

Rhode Island and Minnesota were the two of the most welcoming states to Hmong refugees, and I’m proud to represent my Hmong constituents.

Grateful officials who had served with them worked to expedite their passage from the camps to the U.S.

Hundreds were rescued in that unauthorized airlift, but most had to flee into the mountains, hunted by the Pathet Lao, and work their way to camps across the border in Thailand to queue up for refuge in the United States.

Legend has it that one pilot pointed his pistol at an airbase official trying to keep him from getting to the runway.
- SW
Loyalty was mutual. When we abruptly left Laos, CIA and military pilots flew unauthorized missions from our Thai airbases in “borrowed” aircraft into Long Tieng to bring out their abandoned comrades-in-arms and their families.
- SW
They were loyal and brave and effective. Our U.S. military attaché in Laos Gen. Dick Trefry said after the war that were it not for the Hmong troops operating in Northern Laos, “there’d be a thousand more names on the Vietnam Memorial” in Washington.
- SW
They opposed the communist Pathet Lao, and fought to protect their territorial home. They helped rescue downed pilots and disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
- SW
During the Vietnam conflict, the CIA supported a Hmong military force operating out of a base in Laos called Long Tieng, run by a general named Vang Pao.

The gentleman who ICE hauled without cause out of his home in his underwear into the icy Minnesota winter (after terrifying his 5-year-old grandson) was from Laos, one of the Hmong hill tribes people of the then-Kingdom of Laos. You should know a bit about the background of those people. 🧵

The Treasury Secretary says no big deal if the world stops buying U.S. Treasuries. It’s a huge deal for our country’s financial health and for Americans who would pay higher interest rates on car loans and mortgages. Why is he spouting nonsense? To suck up to a wannabe dictator.

Trump’s priorities are clear: no money to fix rising health care or grocery costs… but enough money for a conflict in Venezuela, buying Greenland, and giving ICE a $75 billion slush-fund.

This morning, I spoke with patients, providers, and health care advocates in Hampton about how cuts to Medicaid and the ACA are hurting Virginians. I'll keep fighting to protect and expand critical health care access.

To be clear – Greenland and Denmark have always been willing to work with us on Arctic security and economic development. Trump could have gotten what we needed without antagonizing our NATO allies.

Glad to visit Debbie Smith CTE Academy, Washoe County’s newest high school. It was great to hear about the dedicated career training programs that will prepare students for college or to enter the workforce, and I’m excited to see these students’ success over the coming years!

We must restore the ACA enhanced premium tax credits that expired on December 31st. At a time when so many Americans are worried about the cost of living, Congress must fulfill its duty to protect Americans from rising health care costs.
- BS
The idea that a U.S. president would threaten to invade Greenland because Norway didn’t give him a Nobel Prize is pathetic. This has nothing to do with foreign policy. It’s a president acting like a narcissistic spoiled child because his feelings got hurt. Unacceptable.

In our democracy, with vanishingly rare exceptions, the government is barred from breaking into your home without approval from a real judge. Government agents have no right to ransack your bedroom or terrorize your kids on a whim or personal desire. 3/
