Sen. Ossoff on Republicans Rejecting Government Funding

Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today voted for the Continuing Resolution proposal to keep the government open and extend key Affordable Care Act tax credits. Every Senate Republican present voted against that proposal afterPresident Trump told Republicansnot to work with Democrats in a process that requires bipartisan cooperation.
Sen. Ossoff released the following statement:
“Today I voted to keep the government open and to prevent massive increases to Georgians’ health insurance premiums next year.
“While President Trump has instructed the GOP not to negotiate with Democrats and to go it alone, I urge Congressional Republicans to work with us to find a bipartisan path forward and to prevent a massive increase in health insurance premiums for Georgia families.”
Georgia families will seeamong the biggest increasesin health insurance premiums in the nation next year unless Congress takes action to fix the Trump budget law, which failed to extend key Affordable Care Act tax credits that are set toexpireat the end of the year.
In June, Sen. Ossoffoffered an amendmentduring the Senate’s Trump budget debate to extend key Affordable Care Act tax credits in the Trump budget bill, but Republicans blocked the amendment.
