WASHINGTON
– U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE), a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, joined RFD-TV to discuss the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s farm assistance package and President Trump’s continued efforts to support America’s ag producers.
During the interview, Fischer highlighted the vital role her
Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act
will play in making year-round E15 a reality and establishing President Trump’s America First legacy amongst the ag industry.
On Solidifying Trump’s America First Agenda for Ag Producers:
Fischer:
We always want to be positive about the economy. And I think as long as we can get year-round E15, have that available, that opens a huge market, and those trade deals, you know, that's what's important here. And the President realizes that.
As I said, this is going
to solidify his America First legacy among ag producers
, to be able to get these markets open,
to be able to get that year-round sale of E15.
On Supporting America’s Ag Producers:
Fischer:
It's really welcome news for the farmers across the nation and in Nebraska too. We want to make sure that we can get the farm economy back on track. So, I was really fortunate to be at the roundtable yesterday.
I applaud President Trump and thank Secretary Rollins for the great work that they have done in getting this farm assistance package done. It's $12 billion it's going to help with row crop assistance, about $11 billion will go to row crop assistance. That's really great news for our corn farmers and soybeans, sorghum and wheat.
So, looking forward to being able to get that assistance there as a bridge, to be able to help them as we work to continue to open markets, to get year-round sale of E15, that is huge for corn farmers especially. It's another 2.5 billion bushels a year that would have a market. So, there's a lot that the President and Secretary Rollins and all of us are looking forward to making sure that America first legacy is going to be there for America's agriculture.
On Producer Discussions at White House Ag Roundtable:
Fischer:
I think they're just very grateful that this assistance is going to be there for them. As you know, of course, ag producers face a lot of risks out there that we have no control over. Whether it's weather, whether it's markets, a lot of things beyond our control. So to be able to bridge that gap that exists many times, we need to see this assistance there.
But again, I really want to stress that, you know, we're all very, very supportive of the President continuing to look for and make those good trade deals. We have to have markets. We have to have markets for our products. The world wants them, and we need to have the markets to provide them. I think we might be seeing some more news out of China. We'll see. I know the President's working hard there with President Xi to make sure that not just the agreements we have continue to be met, but also to look for some new as well.
