Senator Rosen met with Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Zalewski. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral defense cooperation between the two nations, the status of discussions to increase the number of U.S. servicemembers in Poland and on a more permanent basis – as the Poles desire – and Poland’s strong investment in defense at 4.7 percent of GDP, the highest rate of all NATO members. Poland is also a large purchaser of U.S. military equipment. Senator Rosen met with Minister Marcin Przydacz, Head of the International Policy Bureau at the Presidential Chancellery, to discuss the threat Russia poses to NATO’s eastern flank and express support for the U.S.-Poland relationship. Poland has been one of the United States’ closest and most important allies, especially as a NATO member on the front lines against Russian aggression in Eastern Europe who pays to host U.S. troops. She also met with U.S. Ambassador to Poland Thomas Rose and other U.S. diplomats at our embassy, as well as military leaders from U.S. Army Europe and Africa and the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine, who play a leading role in coordinating security assistance to and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, and overseeing training and logistics support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Finally, Senator Rosen visited Special Operations Task Force 10.1 at Camp Miron, the easternmost U.S. Special Operations Forces facility in Europe. Camp Miron provides a forward location for training and cooperation with American, Polish, NATO, and Ukrainian forces, and enhances deterrence by demonstrating the United States’ commitment to Poland and NATO along the alliance’s eastern flank. “As Ukraine continues to fight for its freedom now in the fifth year of Russia’s illegal invasion and war against a sovereign nation, the United States must continue its support and commitment to NATO allies and partners – particularly Ukraine – as they fight for freedom and to deter Russia’s continued violations of borders along Europe’s eastern flank,” said Senator Rosen. “Poland has proven time and time again to be one of the United States’ strong allies in Europe, paying to host U.S. troops, and we must continue to foster this relationship as we fight back against Putin and his regime.” As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Rosen has consistently supported Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s war of aggression. In August, she helped introduce bipartisan legislation to provide critical munitions to Ukraine and encourage NATO allies to increase defense contributions. Senator Rosen has also voted for every security assistance package for Ukraine, the last of which passed in December 2024 at the end of the Biden Administration.
