Rosen Helps Introduce Bill to Protect Nevadans from Scams

WASHINGTON, DC– Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce a bill to protect consumers from scams. TheStop the Scammers Actwould restore critical Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) funding and reward whistleblowers who report wrongdoing. This comes after the passage of the extreme Republican budget bill, which cut CFPB funding, removing vital protections for victims of fraud and people experiencing abusive practices from financial institutions.
“Too often, Nevadans are targeted and fall victim to online scams, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has played a key role in protecting families from being ripped off,”said Senator Rosen.“That’s why I’m helping introduce this bill to protect Nevadans from scams by restoring CFPB funding and safeguarding American families from these criminal schemes.”
Senator Rosen has worked to protect consumers. She was part ofa letter urging the Trump administrationto reverse plans to cut the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Senator Rosen alsosigned on to a lettercalling on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate and stop corporations that may be using Donald Trump’s tariffs as a cover to raise prices.
