Senator Sarah Eckhardt released the following statement:
“In a democracy, our government is us. In Texas, all 31 state senators represent the interests of
Texas, no matter where we come from, with what party we are aligned, or on what
committees leadership has assigned us. I have greatly enjoyed serving on every committee to
which I have been assigned over the last two sessions, from Water Agriculture & Rural Affairs
and Local Government in the 87th, to Veterans Affairs, Nominations and Transportation in the
88th. I am eager to add to my Senate experience through my assignments on the
Administration and the Border Security committees during the 89th. Republican or
Democrat, we must all take an active role in our state government, holding each other
accountable for passing laws that put prosperity within reach of every Texan.”
Sarah Eckhardt is the State Senator for Texas State Senate District 14, encompassing Austin,
the live music capital of the world, and its surrounding suburbs. She serves on the Veteran
Affairs, Border Security, Nominations, and Administration Committees. She is the former
Travis County Judge, the first woman to hold that position, and a proud Democrat.
