Cassidy Votes to KEEP Government OPEN, Secures OVER $1.3 Billion for Louisiana

WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) voted to keep the government open and announced he secured $1,323,770.00 for Louisiana in the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and National Security and Department of State appropriations bills for fiscal year 2026.
As a part of this package, the U.S. Senate also passed a two-week continuing resolution to allow time to reach an agreement on the Homeland Security appropriations bill. These bills now head to the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration. If the U.S. House of Representatives does not pass these funding bills by midnight tonight, Friday, January 30, 2026, it will result in a partial government shutdown.
Cassidy on potential partial government shutdown:“I voted to keep the government open, fund the military, and importantly to fund FEMA, which needed right now to help those affected by Winter Storm Fern.”
Cassidy on $1.3 billion secured for Louisiana:“A safer, stronger Louisiana starts with investments. This funding strengthens our national security, makes our communities safer, and improves roads and bridges across the state.”
