Senator Peters Helps Lead Legislation to Protect Access to Contraception
WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) helped reintroduce legislation to guarantee Americans the right to access contraceptives. TheRight to Contraception Actwould prohibit government from restricting the use of – and health care providers’ ability to prescribe – contraception. Peters cosponsored theRight to Contraception Actin response to continued efforts across the U.S. to limit access to reproductive health care, including efforts to ban some or all forms of contraception despite overwhelming support among Americans.
“Republican lawmakers across the country are actively working to strip women of their reproductive freedoms, despite more than 90 percent of Americans believing everyone should be able to access the contraceptives that they need,”said Senator Peters.“This legislation is simple.
