Gillibrand Statement Congratulating Mayor-Elect Mamdani On His Election Victory

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement on the New York City mayoral election results:
“Earlier tonight, I called to congratulate Mayor-Elect Mamdani on his victory. Right now, too many New Yorkers are struggling just to get by. I am committed to working with the mayor-elect to address the affordability crisis and lower costs, ensure New York is safe for all, and protect our fundamental rights.
New York voters have fairly and freely chosen their next mayor, and the results of this election should not draw the ire of the president or the federal government. I stand ready to defend New York against any and all of the retaliation from the Trump administration.
I would urge President Trump to focus on the constituents we all serve and prioritize making their lives better, not his personal political vendettas. Our work should be about the people we serve, not partisan politics.”
