Gillibrand Statement On The Return Of The Body Of Itay Chen

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released the following statement on the return of the body of Itay Chen, the last American to be held hostage in Gaza, to Israel from Hamas captivity:
“On October 7, 2023, Itay Chen was murdered and kidnapped by Hamas while defending civilians near the Gaza border. For the past two years since that horrific day, Itay’s family has had to endure an unimaginable pain and suffering that no family should have to go through. My heart is with his family and all who mourn his loss. I am relieved that Itay’s body has finally been returned to Israel, allowing his loved ones to lay him to rest with dignity. May his memory be a blessing.”
