On the phone with Ohioans

Dear friends and neighbors, As your voice in the United States Senate, one of my main jobs is to take what I hear from Ohioans back with me to Washington. One way I do that is through telephone town halls, which allow me to connect directly with Ohioans and hear about their priorities, concerns, and ideas. Most recently, I hosted a telephone town hall with Ohioans from southwestern Ohio, connecting with more than 88,000 constituents. We discussed a variety of issues, including the Working Families Tax Cuts, voter ID, data centers, and more. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to join the call and share their perspectives. Hearing directly from Ohioans helps me better represent our state in Washington. Here’s what Ohioans had to say about what we discussed on the call: The Working Families Tax Cuts Act eliminated taxes on tips and overtime, increased the child tax credit, and gave seniors a $6,000 tax deduction while expanding tax relief for families so they have more money to save, invest, and spend on their own priorities. Permitting reform is affordability.  My goal with permitting reform is simple: make America the best place in the world to build, invest, and innovate. I’m leading the New Source Review Permitting Act and I’m backing the American Energy and Mineral Infrastructure Act . Both bills would create meaningful permitting reform—cutting unnecessary red tape and lowering costs. If America wants to lead the world in AI and strengthen national security, we need the infrastructure to support those efforts. My Ratepayer Protection Act would implement regulations to keep America globally competitive while protecting Ohioans and Americans from paying the electricity costs themselves. I’m glad to see Ohioans support my bill. When I was Ohio’s Secretary of State, my mission was always to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat in our elections. Showing a photo ID at the polls is one way to do that. On this telephone town hall, 89% Ohioans told me they are for it. We’re here to help Customer service is my top priority.
