Rep. Boebert Welcomes USDA Drought Disaster Designation for Baca and Lincoln Counties
October 21, 2026 Press Release Lone Tree, CO — U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) highlighted a U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretarial disaster designation for drought that makes farm operators in affected Colorado counties eligible for Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loan assistance. USDA designated Adams, Arapahoe, Bent, Cheyenne, Crowley, Douglas, El Paso, Kiowa, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Prowers, Sedgwick and Weld counties as primary natural disaster areas due to severe drought conditions during the growing season. Additionally, Contiguous counties in Colorado’s Fourth District include Adams, Baca, Bent, Douglas, El Paso, Elbert, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Prowers, Phillips, Washington, Weld and Yuma. “Farmers and ranchers across the Eastern Plains continue to face tough conditions from drought,” said Rep. Boebert . “This designation provides important access to emergency loan assistance for producers who need it. I encourage eligible operators to contact their local FSA office as soon as possible.” Farm operators in primary and contiguous counties have eight months from the date of the designation to apply for FSA emergency loans. Each application is considered on its own merits based on production losses, security, and repayment ability. Deputy Under Secretary, Brooke Appleton recently wrote a letter to Governor Polis to also include Baca and Lincoln Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas. For more information, see attached letter here. Please check with your local FSA office for your designation and application dates. The disaster designation number is 2026N00002040.
